NW District Lay Servant Training
The Summer Lay Servant courses will be offered on Saturday, July 20th at Culberston Chapel UMC. Below are the course options for this training.
- The Basic Course, using Lay Servant Ministries: Basic Course Participants Book, by S. Zeigler-Jackson & B. Jackson, is foundational for all advance courses. Participants are encouraged to consider the importance of exercising servant leadership, developing future leaders and remaining rooted in consistent spiritual practices.
- The Accountable Discipleship course focuses on the concept of the household of God, Scripture as divine revelation, Wesleyan understandings of grace and the importance of the class leader in the development of the Methodist movement. You will be using the book Accountable Discipleship, by Steven Manskar. This is a core course.
- The Lay Pastoral Care Giving course offers insights into the life span and the dynamics of contemporary life to help church leaders reach out with God’s love and care to others. You will use the book Lay Pastoral Care Giving by Tim Farabaugh. This is an advanced course.
