2020 Annual Conference Updates and Information
posted on May 28
Due to coronavirus safety precautions, the 2020 Annual Conference Session will hopefully take place in an adapted version beginning at 10:00 AM on Saturday, August 22 across multiple locations in Missouri. During our time together, we will focus on key decisions about our shared work together. You can view the draft agenda www.moacinfo.com and download our promotional flier here.
To prepare for this session, please watch the digital video reports that have been prepared in lieu of our three-day session. You can find all digital reports at our Vimeo Channel.
ANNUAL CONFERENCE SESSION REGISTRATION
Click Here to register for Annual Conference on Saturday, August 22, 2020 10:00 a.m. CDT. Registration deadline is August 1. You must register prior to August 1 in order for us to make accommodations for district locations. Guests should NOT register and instead, watch the livestream from home.
In early August, you will receive detailed communication about the district location you will attend. Based on public gathering restrictions, we will assign you the district location you will need to attend. Your district location will be based upon your appointment as of June 5, 2020. We ask for your patience and grace as we watch and listen to our health experts related to the coronavirus pandemic. We will adjust as needed in order to minimize risk. If health concerns warrant the decision, the bishop, in conversation with the Cabinet and Mission Council, reserves the right to convert the annual conference session on August 22 to a virtual only conference (similar to the Virtual Clergy Session on June 5).
For the sake of your own health concerns, you may choose not to publicly gather on August 22. This will mean relinquishing your vote. For clergy members, see your District Superintendent for excused absences.
ANNUAL CONFERENCE SESSION VOTING AND VOICE GUIDELINESThose eligible to vote in an annual conference session are outlined in our voting guide found on pg. 5 of the Annual Conference workbook. Only voting clergy and lay members should register for this annual conference. Guests, including family members, should plan to watch the session from home via the livestream.
Each charge served by more than one clergy member under appointment (including deacons in full connection for whom this is their primary appointment) shall be entitled to as many lay members as there are clergy members under appointment (as of June 5, 2020). Qualifications for lay membership to annual conference can be found in the Book of Discipline paragraph 251.2. Alternate lay members should only plan to attend in the event the lay member to annual conference is unavailable.
